- Hi There, I am DJ Sheri J. and I have joined my husband DJ Tony as a DJ/MC. I have always been very into music. I spent many years working in night clubs, so I have a really good handle on what people like to hear so they have a great time. My goal is to keep the dance floor busy and also to make sure that everyone has a good time.
2008 has just about come and gone and this year is the year I made the decision to finally pursue my favorite hobby as a business and this is one of those things that is a life dream of mine, to start a photography business. As I thought about how I wanted to do that I realized I so badly want to stick with what I have come to love and that is weddings.... SO that means I am going to be focusing on wedding photography. I am excited about wedding photojournalism, which is non-traditional and way more modern and creative. The goal is to capture the moments of the day and let the pictures tell the story of the wedding. Embracing the emotions and feelings of the day through images. DJ Tony has been in the industry for over 30 years dating all the way back to when he was in high school and did his first gig for his own school and it grew from there.
DJ Sheri J. worked in night clubs for many years and has a good grasp on what people are looking for in terms of music. She grew up collecting music and paid special attention to always knowing what the latest was in music.
Both Tony and Sheri are really good at reading the crowd.

As we near the end of 2008, I thought I would come back and add a little information about what I have been working on lately. Several months ago I decided to start pursuing my life dream of starting a photography business. I honestly love almost every kind of photography you can imagine, BUT since I am already SO involved in weddings I made a decision to focus on wedding photography and more specifically wedding photojournalism or portrait journalism. This is "non-traditional" meaning that all the "posed" stuff especially the stuffy formal group shots are non-existent, instead a fun, light artistic approach is used and modern brides love this stuff. Also the "wedding albums" are more of a magazine layout style. The website is up and coming and will be hosted at http://www.SheriJohnsonPhotography.com
I will still be DJ'ing, however this new work will be phased in. Tony has also taken an interest in photography and has already shown great potential so he hopes to help me as things get more established.

Outdoor Weddings in Georgia
I continue to advise people that when they are planning an outdoor event, that they need to have a solid back up plan that can be implemented at a moment's notice. It is a pretty well known fact that storms or rain can come in on any given afternoon around 4-6 pm in the summer months many times with very little clue beforehand.

Interesting Wedding Stories
Just want to share some things to get the ball rolling here. So far this year we have had one couple that met through eHarmony and we thought that was pretty cool since you hear the commercials, but it's cool to know that you might actually meet some of these people. A few weeks ago I did a wedding for a bride and groom that met through myspace. They told me they didn't go on there to meet someone, that it just sort of happened. Anyway, I really thought that was interesting.
